Equal Pay Day 2026: The Fight for Fair Wages Continues

Equal Pay Day marks how far into the new year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. In 2026, that date is a reminder that the wage gap is not just a statistic, it is a lived reality for millions of women across the workforce.

Despite progress, women continue to earn less than their male counterparts for performing the same work with the same level of skill, experience, and dedication. For women of color, the disparity is even greater, highlighting the intersection of gender and racial inequities in our economy.

This is not about a lack of effort. Women have always worked hard. Often balancing careers, families, and communities while still being undervalued in the workplace.

As union women, we understand that change does not happen by chance—it happens through collective action. Organized labor has long been at the forefront of securing fair wages, equal opportunities, and protections for working women. Through solidarity, advocacy, and education, we continue to push forward in the fight for equity.
